Started in 1961, Mrs. Corry Ambar began to produce her own Kecap Manis using the name Kecap Septo Delee (which means 7 beans) as 7 is their lucky number, hence the
name of Kecap7.
 
The location of the Kecap7 current brewery was bought by Mr. Kris Ambar as a token of love to his wife, Mrs. Corry Ambar and they have remained true to their traditional recipes of Kecap Manis till this day.
 
Kecap7 is now continued by the second generation owner, Mrs. Maria Triningsih and it can only be found in small general stores in traditional markets in Jakarta. Kecap7 has been known as a good match-up for cooking satay and as a dipping sauce for fried tofu.
